Description
A nostalgic cup with the raw and rural feel of a bygone era. Graciously green and herbaceous with a finish reminiscent of seashells.
Produced in 2023, this tea is purely “aracha,” meaning it is finished product that has not been graded, sorted, or blended. All Japanese tea starts out as aracha, but the majority of it is sorted/blended into a final product before it is sold. This is an asamushi style tea (meaning lightly steamed) made from the Yabukita cultivar in the Kakegawa region of Shizuoka prefecture. Most aracha from Kakegawa is fukamushi style (deep steamed), so this lightly steamed version is a rare find. It comes from the “Miyama” tea factory (Miyama = “beautiful mountain”), a tiny factory that produces only 300kg a year. This is the first the time their tea has been exported.
