Description
Available online only.
This bug-bitten leaf is the same raw material used to make Oriental Beauty and has an aroma of cedar and honey. The cup is floral with flavors of roasted nuts and apples baked in.
Gui Fei and Oriental Beauty are unique teas from Taiwan that are visited (and bitten) by the “green leaf hopper”, a tiny cicada. The damage done by these tiny bites creates a chemical reaction in the leaves that significantly changes the character of both the flavor and aroma. Gui Fei is similar to a Tung Ting style Taiwanese tea, but is more oxidized (around 35%) and undergoes more baking than the very green style that is currently popular.
